Over the years, NPHW has played a crucial role in advancing public health awareness and advocacy, addressing pressing health challenges, and promoting equitable access to health resources.

What is Public Health?

Simply put, public health is all about keeping us healthy and happy! It’s about preventing diseases, helping us live longer, and promoting good health for everyone. From society to organizations, communities, and each of us, we all play a part in making sure everyone is as healthy as can be.

Looking Back at Public Health

Did you know that public health has been around since ancient times? Back then, people already had ideas about diseases and how to stay healthy. Over the years, public health has evolved through different factors like survival, beliefs, and new technologies. Today, we’ve achieved amazing things like getting rid of diseases, making vaccines to prevent outbreaks, and improving healthcare for moms and kids. Public health is a big part of our lives!

Mark your calendars! National Public Health Week is from April 1-7, 2024. This year’s theme is “Protecting, Connecting, and Thriving: We Are All Public Health.” It’s a chance to learn how you can help keep your community healthy.
