It’s no secret that vaccines are proven to be safe, effective and help save millions of lives each year, yet vaccine uptake has seen a downward trend since the COVID-19 pandemic. As a local health department, one of Cameron County Public Health’s top priorities is to work closely with partners to help protect the health, safety, and well-being of our communities through life-saving vaccines. We do this by working collectively to improve access to vaccines, increase the number of providers enrolled in the Texas Vaccines for Children (TVFC) and/or the Adult Safety Net (ASN) Programs, and increase vaccination rates across the county. An important piece in completing this puzzle, is to host events that bring together key partners, such as the 2024 Immunization and Preparedness Conference.
On Friday, August 23rd, we hosted the 2024 Immunization and Preparedness Conference in observance of August Immunization Awareness Month. This year’s annual conference brought together over 100 health professionals from various backgrounds, including public health partners, local school districts, private physicians, community health centers, and other governmental organizations with one common goal – to protect our communities, including children, adolescents, and adults, against vaccine preventable diseases.
If you or someone you know is interested in enrolling to become a TVFC or ASN Provider, please do not hesitate to contact Cameron County Public Health at (956) 247-3650 and ask for our Immunization Program. You are only one call away from helping to provide life-saving vaccines in your community!
