The Cameron County Housing Finance Corporation of Cameron County and Cameron County – (Economic Development and Community Affairs Dept.) has put together an activity of sponsoring a High School Student Essay Writing Contest for students who plan to attend college in the Fall of 2022. The topic for the Essay is Fair Housing. The Rotary Club of Brownsville Sunrise have also partnered with us in that they will have a committee of Judges who will judge and select the (8) winning essays, each of $2500.00 The winners will be announced at later date by Cameron County.
High school students that will attend college in the Fall of 2022 to pursue a career in Civil Rights Law, Architecture, Engineering or other field as listed in the informational flyer are highly encouraged to apply for this scholarship.

The deadline for students to submit their essay by Email is February 1, 2022 11:59 p.m. the Essays may be submitted to the following County email address: 2022FairHousingEssay@co.cameron.tx.us
Students must be Residents of Cameron County to enter.
High school students enrolled in any high school within Cameron County and or enrolled in any magnet high school within the Rio Grande Valley may enter the contest and submit their Essay by the above deadline.
