The HIDTA Unit (High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas), spearheaded by Commander Luis Alaniz, is an extension of the District Attorney’s Office that works very closely with local, state, and even federal law agencies. They assist these agencies in their ongoing investigations by helping them find a person or vehicle, performing computer and cell phone forensics on suspect devices, creating reports, putting together photo lineups and maps, and much more.
The types of crimes the unit covers are:
- Murder
- Drug
- Theft
- Sexual Assault
- Any other Major Crimes
