Ladies Inspired For Excellence (L.I.F.E.)
Residential Program

Our goal is to teach the residents to value themselves, their families, others, and their community.

Residential Program

The L.I.F.E. Residential Program is a secure facility which utilizes a strength based approach when servicing youth and is designed to service female juveniles ages 14 thru 17 who have been diagnosed with a mental health disorder and/or have experienced traumatic events in the past.

Therapeutic Environment

The program will provide the residents with a therapeutic environment where they will receive Trauma Informed Care and will be allowed to work on their personal struggles.  Trauma-Focused Therapy is a specific approach to therapy that recognizes and emphasizes understanding how the traumatic experience impacts a child’s mental, behavioral, emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being.

Skills & Strategies

The purpose of trauma-focused therapy is to offer skills and strategies to assist our residents in better understanding, coping with,  processing emotions and memories tied to traumatic experiences, the end goal is to enable them to create a healthier and more adaptive meaning of the experience that took place in her life.

Individual & Group Counseling

Each resident will be assigned to a Licensed Professional Counselor and will participate in individual, group and family counseling to include drug rehabilitation therapy by a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor-Intern that provides treatment services under the Texas Juvenile Justice Department Chapter 353 Substance Use Standards.

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy

All residents will also have access to Dialectal Behavioral Therapy, which is an evidence based model that provides the resident and family skills to cope with relationships, community safety, life skills and overall emotional and physical well-being.

Education

Residents also attend school throughout the day, which require the resident to be classified as 8th grade or above, and will be supported by the San Benito CISD.  This also includes a GED component for those eligible. Residents also receive building trades skills and OSHA safety training as part of the San Benito CISD CATE vocational training.
