IT Equipment Purchasing Support

Under the direction and supervision of the Computer Center Supervisor. Purchase and receive computer and related equipment utilizing the Cameron County Purchasing policies and procedures. Provides first line support, screen calls, administrative and clerical assistance, and other data center functions. Maintain department time and attendance. Cross training will include basic computer support assistance.

This includes:

  1. Solicit bids and quotes for computer and related equipment.
  2. Prepare requisitions for purchase order with supporting documentation.
  3. Insure all purchases adhere to Computer Center specifications.
  4. Assist Computer Support personnel when necessary to install and configure software on new computers with related peripherals.
  5. Provide clerical and administrative support to the department.
  6. Answer, screen, route telephone calls, and responds to service requests.
  7. Orders, receives and maintains supplies and software for the department.
  8. Perform project based data entry.
  9. Meet weekly to discuss service task status, and job progress.
  10. Receive and sort mail.
  11. Receive and inventory packages and supplies.
  12. Tag and data entry computer equipment.
  13. Review invoices and prepare for payment approval.
  14. Maintain time and attendance records as required by Cameron County policy and departmental Procedures.
  15. Performs other duties as assigned by the Computer Center Supervisor and/or Director of Administrative Services.

Operations provides the county with hardware support for all computers and peripheral devices, including all other related duties as required.

 

This includes:

  1. Setup and configure new personal computers with related peripherals.
  2. Troubleshoot and repair personal computers and their related peripherals.
  3. Performs routine maintenance on computer equipment and peripherals.
  4. Provide clerical and administrative support to the Supervisor and Chief Information Officer.
  5. Answer, screen, route telephone calls, and responds to service requests.
  6. Setup and configure terminal displays for the HP3000 and AS/400 mini computers.
  7. Troubleshoot terminal displays
  8. Assist in network and data wiring, including proper termination, labeling and documentation.
  9. Distribute reports and printouts from department printers.
  10. Orders, receives and maintains supplies and equipment for the department.
  11. Perform system configuration under the supervision of the Operations Supervisor.
  12. Perform systems backups on HP3000, AS/400 & NT servers as required.
  13. Performs other duties as assigned by the Operations Supervisor.
  14. Adheres to an off-hours stand-by or on-call status as required.

Networking provides the County network and security support for all servers and network devices. Recommends and enforces networking policies and procedures as approved by the Chief Information Officer, including all other related duties as required.

This includes:

 

  1. Setup and configure servers with related peripherals applications.
  2. Troubleshoot and correct network devices and their related peripherals.
  3. Performs routine maintenance on network and server equipment and peripherals.
  4. Develop and maintain complete and accurate documentation.
  5. Answer, screen, route telephone calls, and responds to service requests.
  6. Assist in network and data wiring, including proper termination, labeling, and documentation.
  7. Maintains inventory for system management
  8. Perform system backups on HP3000, AS/400, Microsoft and other Servers as required.
  9. Perform system configuration under the supervision of the Operations Supervisor.
  10. Performs other duties as assigned by the Operations Supervisor.
  11. Adheres to an off-hours standby or on-call status as required.

Programming/Development

Programming/Development performs moderate level functional systems design specifications from User-defined system goals and objectives. Develops advanced program code from file and data field processing requirements. Provides training and assistance to entry-level Programming positions.

 

This includes:

  1. Designs program structure and flow specifications.
  2. Designs report and screen formats from general information content specifications.
  3. Writes new programs, enhancements, and modifications to complex.
  4. Develops and maintains technical documentation for supporting applications.
  5. Answer, screen, route telephone calls, and response to service requests.
  6. Perform advanced operating system functions.
  7. Perform a software configuration.
  8. Perform advanced security functions under the supervision of the Sr. Systems Analyst.
  9. Submit a weekly report of service request/work order progress.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned by the Sr. System Analyst.

Web Development

The Webmaster manages the content of the County’s entire Internet presence. The Webmaster determines the management needs and requirements for the Internet system and works within the Computer Information Services Department, which carries out the technical aspects of developing and operating the County’s Internet presence.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to, the following: Develop and articulate the overall focus and concept for the County’s home page, in keeping with departmental priorities and objectives.

 

This includes:

  1. Develop, research, lay out, write/edit new sections/features for the county website.
  2. Search and review links for new categories.
  3. Determine placement of all new information submitted by program areas.
  4. Monitor chats and Webmaster mail to identify topics that might be fitting for new sections of the homepage and trends or items that could be of interest to the county.
  5. Proof/edit new sections of the Website
  6. Review requests from other Webmasters to link to their sites.
  7. Meet with staff to address and resolve technical problems, and discuss new directions and technology.
  8. Work with the County to develop training on and through the Internet.

Communications provides the County advanced communications support for all voice and data projects, including all other related duties as required.

 

This includes:

  1. Provide detail communications design & specification for voice & data installations.
  2. Coordinate installation projects as determined by Chief Information Officer & Operations Supervisor.
  3. Performs complete wire runs & drops for communications service requests.
  4. Provide clerical and administrative support to the Supervisor and Chief Information Officer.
  5. Answer, screen, route telephone calls, and responds to service requests.
  6. Setup and configure phone systems where suitable.
  7. Develop & maintain data wire documentation as per Standard Operating Procedures.
  8. Orders, receives and maintains communications supplies and equipment for the department.
  9. Submits weekly Billing & Activity Reports.
  10. Performs other duties as assigned by the Operations Supervisor.
