The Cameron County West Railroad Relocation Project involves the installation of approximately seven miles of relocated track and sub grade, approximately 810 feet of the total 2750 feet of new freight rail substructure and superstructure spanning the Rio Grande River and flood plains and a new two-story Department of Homeland Security Facility of inspection purposes. The project will greatly improve the safety and quality of life for our sister cites of Brownsville and Matamoros by eliminating congestion, improving rail movement of goods and services and most importantly eliminating travel time delays for first responder personnel and residents during an emergency.
